Rica is not a Clumber at all, but a Bracco Italiano. After many years
of research, and an interest in getting an "accessory dog,"
we decided on a Bracco and went to Lucia Delor de Ferrabouc of Italy to
get our girl.
Rica, who thinks like, and tries to be a Clumber, is actually quite the
opposite. She is much easier to maintain, train, and put up with. She
is also a much softer and more sensitive dog, who can spend her entire
day running the property pointing birds and hunting rabbits.
I have never had a breed of dog who has learned commands and obedience
as quick as Rica. She also retains all she has learned. Rica lives to
please and she is extremely sensitive. She doesn't take well to the slightest
raise in voice or eyebrow, but would surely give up her life to help if
put in that position. Rica is a real "in your face" kind of
dog and tries to be a lap dog and is also very much a couch potato, extremely
clean and obedient in the house.
Rica loves everyone and is very trustworthy, gentle and sweet. There is
not one mean bone in her body. She has a sense of humor and is quite competitive
with Miss Beans, who is also her best friend. Rica is a lost soul when
Beans isn't around. Rica is also a great nanny and baby-sitter to the
Clumber puppies.
Although a rare breed and not AKC recognized, Rica is already a Jungsten
International Champion, with many group wins and placements. She has won
Best Rare Breed Puppy In Show and Best Reserve Puppy In Show. As an adult,
Rica has both UKC and ARBA group wins and is an ARBA Best In Show Winner.
She holds a bright and exciting future ahead of her, with a lot of possibilities
and potential. Although we feel there is nothing like a Clumber Spaniel,
we love our Enrichetta, she has kind of grown on us.
